Lost Wall
Lost Wall is part of the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area, just outside of Lafayette, Georgia, and about 35 miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. To get to Lafayette, take I-75 North from Atlanta, (or I-75 South from Chattanooga), and get off at exit 133 for Lafayette/Resaca (Highway 136). Follow 136 west, toward Lafayette, to the intersection of 136 and Highway 193. Continue on 193 into downtown Lafayette. Turn left, staying on 193 (Main Street), go to the second traffic light and turn right. At this point you are still on 193. Continue for 2.7 miles to Chamberlain Road on the left. Follow Chamberlain for 3.3 miles. Turn right into Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Follow this gravel road up the mountain and into a series of switchbacks. The parking/trailhead for Lost Wall is in the corner of the fourth switchback (a hard righthand switchback), after about 1.8 miles. To access the newer routes at the far south end of Lost Wall, keep driving up the road to the top and stay left, along the bluffline for about .25 miles, crossing over a creek bed under the road. Look for a vague pulloff on the lefthand side near a white, basketball-sized rock. There should be a steep descent gully leading to the cliff base. Alternately, it is possible to hike in the standard way and continue walking along the cliff line to the far end.
