After nearly 25 years, Atlanta Rocks! Closed

After nearly a quarter century of helping climbers scale new heights, Atlanta Rocks! Indoor Climbing Gym closed its doors, for the final time, at 6 pm on December 31, 2018.

Our customers, employees, and youth climbing team have, for decades, been part of our DNA and it’s hard to imagine our lives without the gym. But, in the end, the quickening pace of redevelopment of nearby commercial/industrial properties to higher uses, and the uncertainties and rising costs that come with such redevelopment, signaled to us that the time was right to retire from this market.

As Atlanta’s first indoor climbing gym, Atlanta Rocks! has gratefully served the Atlanta climbing community since opening our first location in the 1990’s. Over the decades, we’ve had the honor of teaching tens of thousands of people how to climb; employed more than a thousand of the best employees on the planet; and hosted countless events including birthday parties, scouting events, fundraisers, bar mitzvahs, concerts, summer camps, lock-ins, climbing competitions and more. We are especially proud of our youth climbing team. Every year they have represented Atlanta Rocks! well and have made us proud.

Atlanta Rocks! has been the backdrop for numerous television shows including: Bad Girls Club, DIY Network, It’s Me or the Dog, MTV Diaries with Ludacris, Property Brothers, Real Housewives of Atlanta, T.I. & Tiny, CNN, and many local segments on various other TV news shows.

Climbers at Atlanta Rocks! have enjoyed mingling with celebrity guests including Deone Branch, the US Army Golden Knights, Woody Harrelson, Nathan Parsons, Alex Pettyfer, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Shailene Woodley. Local celebrities including former Mayor Bill Campbell, comedian Jeff Foxworthy, Homeland’s Morgan Saylor, Collective Soul, Ludacris, Usher, consumer advocate Clark Howard, and Bert Weiss of The Bert Show have visited this Atlanta climbing landmark.

Even though Atlanta will be losing a little bit of climbing history, at year’s end, there’s still time to make memories and enjoy some of our challenging climbs. We are offering roll back prices on climbing for the month of December with daily climbing rates of just $12.50. Also, we hope you can join us for our “Climb-On…Until We Meet Again” closing celebration beginning at 6 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018, featuring music, food, old friends and – of course – plenty of climbing.

To our customers, employees, coaches, and climbing team, we are thankful for all of you and it has been our honor to help grow and serve the Atlanta climbing community.

Please visit the Atlanta Rocks! Facebook page here to share your gym climbing memories with your fellow climbers and staff members.
